Stop Motion Animation is when the camera stops rolling for the producers and editors to move the characters etc to their new position within the set or scene.  the camera then starts rolling again.  the whole film or animation is made via this method of stopping the camera moving the character and then starting the camera again.

Stop motion animation has been around for a long time, almost as long as traditional film-making. Originally stop motion involved animating objects which included the animated movement of any "non-drawn" objects such as toys, blocks or any rigid inanimate object you care to mention. This was quickly followed by cel animaiton. And then animators experimented with clay animation and puppet animation which is what you may be familiar with in Wallace and Gromit and so forth.  O'Reilly (2007)

Wallace and Gromit is a stop motion animation.  Nick Park is the creator of the this animation.

Below is a short clip of one of nick park's Wallace and Gromit Animations.

below I have put a clip showing how Nick Park and his team make Wallace and Gromit.

this show the tools and equi[pment that they use to make the animation.  there is a lot of time and effort that goes into making an animation.  Nick Park is a very talented man!
